LA County Employees

Los Angeles County, with 101,296 budgeted positions and 37 departments, is the largest employer in the five-county region. The majority of employees work in law and justice (31,568), health services (28,772) and social services (21,405). However, the spectrum of job listings – from clerk to truck driver, sanitarian to psychiatrist, scientist to scuba diver, attorney to helicopter pilot – encompasses nearly every trade and profession, and illustrates the complexity of County government. Though the headquarters for County government is in Los Angeles, employees work at locations throughout the county's 4,084 square miles. Employees are under the civil service system, which assures fair and impartial treatment.
