COUNTY DAY AT THE FAIR IS SUNDAY, SEPT. 7
Sunday, Sept. 7 is County Day at the Los Angeles County Fair. Please join us in honoring the work County employees perform every day to make the lives of our citizens better. There will be a parade at noon along the street that fronts the race track, featuring County vehicles, employees and programs. An exposition of booths featuring County programs will line Redwood Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ABC7 will broadcast live from the Expo.
COUNTY EXHIBIT AT THE FAIR
The County's exhibit at the Los Angeles County Fair this year is in Building 5. The exhibit, which won a gold ribbon at the California State Fair, focuses on the importance of the filming industry to our area. Among the features are current movie trailers, movies about County programs, movies shot at County facilities and locales, and celebrities who have helped us achieve our mission. Bring a camera for a picture with a life-size figure of the original Hulk (who just happens to moonlight as a Los Angeles County reserve deputy sheriff). The fair runs Sept. 5-28.
WALK TO HELP HOMELESS
HomeWalk, United Way's annual 5K family walk to raise awareness and resources for the homeless in Los Angeles County, will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 at Exposition Park in Los Angeles. This year's goal is to raise $750,000. More than 2,300 homeless people will move into permanent housing with the $500,000 raised last year.
